D.I.V.A of the Month – May 2011
Martinet Malyo from Lusaka Zambia shows that it is possible to ‘do it all’ – have a family, a demanding career and run a business!

Lelemba: Who is Martinet?
Martinet: I always find that difficult to answer, but here goes: I’m a wife, mother, daughter, sister, cousin aunt and friend.  I love my family.  I’m a professional, working in a demanding environment and I love to work.

Lelemba: What does your job entail?
Martinet: I work for an Investment Promotion Agency, and in a nutshell my job is to promote Zambia as a preferred investment destination.  This means that there’s quite a bit of travelling within and outside the country, meeting and talking to business people, government officials, etc. And so there’s a lot of networking required

Lelemba: Sounds demanding indeed! You also run a successful clothing business. Can you share with us briefly how you got started and why?
Martinet: It started as a result of the need to have an extra income, and my partner has an eye for fashion and trends, so it was easy to decide what business to go into.
