D.I.V.A of the Month – May 2011
Martinet Malyo from Lusaka Zambia shows that it is possible to ‘do it all’ – have a family, a demanding career and run a business!

Lelemba: Who is Martinet?
Martinet: I always find that difficult to answer, but here goes: I’m a wife, mother, daughter, sister, cousin aunt and friend.  I love my family.  I’m a professional, working in a demanding environment and I love to work.

Lelemba: What does your job entail?
Martinet: I work for an Investment Promotion Agency, and in a nutshell my job is to promote Zambia as a preferred investment destination.  This means that there’s quite a bit of travelling within and outside the country, meeting and talking to business people, government officials, etc. And so there’s a lot of networking required

Lelemba: Sounds demanding indeed! You also run a successful clothing business. Can you share with us briefly how you got started and why?
Martinet: It started as a result of the need to have an extra income, and my partner has an eye for fashion and trends, so it was easy to decide what business to go into.

    Great stuff!
    Very inspiring!
It’s good to our African women rising up being able to do things for themselves and also making good examples for other to look up to them.
    Keep moving!

I have known this DIVA since 2002 and she really is a hard worker.I get so worried when i see youg ledies(college level & secondary)play with their lives and not putting effort to look at the future.I think they should take pages from these great DIVAS and change the perception the world have for the women.
